Yesterday was the first day of my student teaching adventure. I can't believe that after 10 very long years I will be done in April. I will be teaching 4 Government classes and 2 US History classes. It will be a heavy load but I am excited to get started and be done!! Here is a shot of Miss Dixon...stayed tuned for the stories I am sure I will be more than willing to share from this experience.

For Christmas this year Rafi took me to Vegas for a few days...I always tell him how I want to go places without having a baseball tournament happening. So he booked us a room at New York, New York and got me tickets to see Phantom of the Opera (something I have ALWAYS wanted to do). We had so much fun and it was so nice to have it just be us. We also got to go and see Penn and Teller at the Rio, Rafi loves them, and it was such a funny show! All in all it was the best trip ever! This is a picture of us eating dinner after Phantom at the Paris Hotel. We sat outside and got to see the Bellagio water show.

Isaiah's Basketball Team

Basketball Season is my favorite time of the year. It is my favorite thing to watch, especially when Isaiah is playing. This kid loves to pass and to play defense...which is my favorite thing too!! His team started off looking kind of scary, but have progressed so much!! They are all so aggressive and I think it is because Isaiah gets that way. Here are some pics of him playing...

My little brother Joey played on the Bingham Gremlin A football team this year. He is such a little stud and is good at everything! He was able to play in the championship game against Alta and even though Bingham lost it was a good year and Joey did great. Go Miners!!

Over Halloween we went down to Vegas to watch my brother Jimi play in a baseball tournament with the Horns Select. We always enjoy our trips to Vegas to watch some baseball. We went to the M & M store and took these 2 pictures....(my camera died after these 2 were taken UGH)

Well my little brother, who is 16 and I refuse to believe he is that old, had his first dance at school. Actually, it was a Herriman dance, but it was his first one. Hee Haw Farms 2010

I am alive for those of you that read this blog. I just never seem to have time to update and write down my thoughts of the moment. So I am taking the time now, when I really should be writing a term paper due Monday. Here we go with the first on. Going to Hee Haw Farms has been a tradition for my family for at least the last 3 years. When my mom lived in PG we would always go for Lauren's birthday. Well with my mom being in Texas I have kept the tradition alive. Me, Rafael, Isaiah, Danny, Dani, Monica and their friend went this year. They decided to bring back the Haunted Hayride which has been my favorite thing that they have there. This was a special day because Isaiah had never done a haunted house before and decided to do the walk through at Hee Haws. He did so great and had such a great time!! Until next year Hee Haws!

South Jordan Marathon Relay

I am trying to become a runner....it is not working out so well for me right now with school and work, but I am trying. A bunch of moms from the Horns team got together on September 11, 2010 to run in the Marathon Relay supporting the Children's Justice Center. Rafi had cute shirts made for us and we were Hook 'em Horns #1 and #2. The great part was that you only had to run 5.2 miles with 5 on a team so that equals out to a full marathon...the bad part was it was 5.2 miles and it was HARD!! I chose to run with my sister Sarah (who runs cross country) thinking that it would be good to push myself...uh yeah...it was hard... But in the end we had the fastest time out of our team and I was really glad that we did it. Hopefully next time we will do a 5K or something.

Labor Day Champions

Baseball is still hot and heavy at our house this fall. Rafael put the Horns into a fall ball league and into the RMSB Labor Day Tournament. They picked up a few kids because a lot of the spring boys play football so they needed some bodies. The boys did SO well in this tournament and took 1st place. Nobody expected that so it was a great surprise. The best part was Isaiah got to pitch a few innings...he NEVER pitches so it was great for him to get his confidence up in that area. The fall league is almost over and then we head to basketball season (my fave). It will be a nice break from baseball.

3 Years

So this won't be a very detailed post, but it's new so deal.... Anyway, September 7 was mine and Rafael's 3 year anniversary (if that is what you call it). I just wanted to put down in words what a wonderful 3 years it has been. We have gone through some high and some really low lows, but in the end all that matters is that we love each other. I love having that feeling that there is always someone that has your back, even if you don't particularly like them at that moment. I am excited to see what is waiting for us in the future...marriage and kids are there somewhere so that's always positive. Anyway, I love you Rafi and can't wait for what's ahead for you me and Isaiah in the future.

Isaiah's Spring Program

Another school year down and another Challenger program to attend. This years was especially fun because Isaiah sang a solo. He was so nervous and he wouldn't even smile up on the stage until he got it over with. This is one thing that I love about Challenger...they have some of the cutest programs and the kids seem to really look forward to them.

I love this kid to death!!! Like he was my own...he is such a great student and friend. He is always making sure that everyone is doing okay and is happy. I am so grateful that I am able to help raise this wonderful boy.

So back in May I was able to go to a conference in Toronto for work. I am going to start helping in our marketing and also helping out with the admission piece of it all. So much for being a teacher....(still getting the degree though) Toronto was beautiful and i had so much fun being in a new city....we were able to go to a Blue Jays game and see some of the sites...here are a few pics of the trip..

Weight Training???

We have been slowly fixing up Grandma and Grandpa Flores house and these pictures are one of the projects. This shows Isaiah with a sledgehammer in the backyard breaking up the concrete. I was so hesitant to have him do this but Rafi said he would be fine. When he does go out and do this its only for 20 minutes or so at a time. I guess you could call this his weight training for baseball. So far we have seen results...Isaiah has been hitting the ball hard and hashit 3 doubles in the last 2 games. I guess we will have to keep this up.

Spring Fling Champs

The 9u Horns have won their first championship of the season. We played in the Utah Union Spring Fling Tournament and beat the Salt Lake Sidewinders 5-2. It was such a good tourney for all of our guys! This team has been really fun so far this year. Rafi and Isaiah have enjoyed being a part of it. Here are a few pics....

Monday Night Raw~Phoenix AZ

So Rafael and Isaiah have started a new tradition where they go to Wrestlemania every year. This year for Christmas they got me a plane ticket to meet them in Arizona for Monday Night Raw. For those of you who don't know what it is...it's the wrestling the show on tv. Anyway I flew in Monday morning and had such a blast with them. The weather was GORGEOUS and being with my boys was even better. We were able to walk around downtown for a couple hours before the event and had a ball!! I love these two boys more than anything and was so happy to be able to share this with them. I hope that there will be more of these trips for me in the future.

Rafael's Birthday

March 12th was Rafael's birthday. I decided to get all of my family and his family together for dinner. We had dinner at La Puente and had an absolute blast. They had a pool table so the kids could play and be entertained. I am so grateful for everyone that came and made it fun!! Here are a few pictures from the night.

So for his birthday presents I wanted to try and be creative. I usually get him the same stuff and wanted to surprise him by getting him different things. So I used a theme that I heard of and it was I Love You From Head to Toe. For his head I got him a hat case for all of his Horns hats. For the upper body I got him some new cologne called I Am King by Sean John. (smells amazing!) For his lower body I got him some new Nike shorts because his faves ripped. For his feet I got him the CUTEST Nike shoes from Finish Line. They look so good on him if I can brag a little.

I love Rafi so much and am so grateful to have him and Isaiah in my life. I hope your day was a good one. Love you babe.

Stuck in Price

During the last week in February my little sister Malori was playing in her conference tournament in Price...thinking that it would be fun to drive down and watch, Me, Katie and Cami all hit the road to make the trek down. Little did we know that we would be spending the night there because of a huge snowstorm that closed the roads. We definatley were not prepared for this!! We ended up having to go to Wal-Mart (thank goodness they had one) and by toothbrushes, toothpaste, socks and underwear. I was HYSTERICAL!! I am really glad we actually got a room, by Mal, so we could use her shampoo, straightener and all of the essentials. After the initial reaction wore off we ended up having a ton of fun!! Me, Cami and Kate played Mario Kart on the DS (Cami brought 3) and watched the Jazz game. I love my sisters!!

So I have been keeping up with my training schedule for the Salt Lake City Half Marathon in April. I can't believe how completely out of shape I am. There is no excuse for it either...no pregnancies, no injuries, nothing... Just pure laziness I guess. Well it feels so good to run!! I love how I feel after (not the way I smell though :) ) and am very thankful that I am able to run when I want. I can't help but think of all the people that don't have this ability and it makes me sad. I know this is random, but welcome to my thought process.
On another note...those of you who run and read this (probably not too many read this) I am in need of some songs that will get me through the last 2 miles of the run. These seem to be the hardest for me...especially on the long Saturday runs. Any suggestions that you have would be very much appreciated.

Turning into a runner

So I have decided to take on a new hobby. I have been wanting to get in shape really bad so I have decided to start running again. I have done pretty well so far, but need to do better. I have a couple friends that are running in the Salt Lake City half marathon in April and so that is my goal. By April 17th I will be dragging my butt across that finish line, but the important part is that I finish. I will update my progress on here if any of you are interested. If you have any tips for me please share.

Tis The Season....Again

So here we go again...another year, another baseball season. I am so excited for this year because my dad will be coaching with Rafi so it will be fun to have him there with us. We started this season in St. George for the President's Day Tournament. We couldn't have asked for better weather for baseball in February. It was gorgeous and I didn't want to come home. Our new 9U team did really well. They took 2nd place to the St. Gearoge Roadrunners who were a very good baseball team. Here are some pictures from the fun weekend....enjoy!

Utah Jazz vs. Memphis Grizzlies

With Isaiah playing Jr. Jazz this season we were given tickets to a Jazz game. We were able to take Isaiah's cousin Branden who also plays on the team. Of course with Jr. Jazz you always get the nose bleed seats, but we had so much fun. The Jazz blew out the Grizzlies and the boys had so much fun thinking that the players could hear what they were yelling at them. I love basketball and being able to watch it in person. I am glad that we were able to all go together. The first picture is our view from our seats. The second picture is Isaiah and his cousin Branden. The third picture is Branden, Isaiah and Gage (Gage plays on their team). The fourth picture is of me and Rafael trying not to fall asleep during the game. :)

Quick Update

I can't believe it is already December!! Well I will give a quick little update of the last month of our lives.

*Football ended and baseball started up again so Isaiah and Rafael go up to the warehouse twice a week to practice with the new 9u Horns team. I can't wait for baseball games to start.

*Isaiah has been practicing for his Christmas Program at Challenger this last week or so. I love these programs because it's fun to go and watch him have to sing and dance with the girls in his class.

*I have been busy with school and getting ready for finals which are next week. I am so excited for this semester to be over because I have been taking classes at UVU and SLCC at the same time. I will only be at one college in January which will be a lovely change.

*My mom and the reds were able to come up for the week of Thanksgiving which was so awesome!! It was so nice to be able to hang out with them. I miss them like crazy!! But we had a good time.

Well that is all for now...hopefully I will have some pictures from Isaiah's program and from some random stuff that we will be doing.

The 2009 football season is officially over. Isaiah played for the Highland Rams and had a ball!! He is such a little stud!! By the end of the season he was playing almost every position and rarely coming out of the game. The best part for him was his dad got to help coach him. Rafael is a great coach and loves being able to coach Isaiah in any sport that he plays in. I told him after the last football game that the true sport begins...BASKETBALL!! But I loved being able to watch him play in his first, but not last football season.

So this is very late, but here we go...the Monday before Halloween we went to the pumpkin patch in West Jordan and picked out our pumpkins. Then we took them to the house and carved them on a blanket in the bare kitchen area. They turned out really cute! Rafi did One Eyed Willie from the Goonies, I did a witch and Isaiah did the headless horsemen. I love this time of year!!

Sunday Night Dessert Making

Rafael, Isaiah and I have a tradition every Sunday night now. What we do is we watch the Amazing Race together and me and Isaiah get to pick a dessert to make together. I absolutley love Sundays!! It is so fun to just have 30 min or so of just me and Isaiah spending some time together. I know that Rafael loves it to because he always has the biggest smile on his face when it's time for us to have our "dessert time" together. So far we have made chocolate chip cookies, funfetti cupcakes and brownies in the shape of a pumpkin. Yesterday I was asking him what he wanted to make this time and he wanted a chocolate lava cake. I was so worried because I didn't know how we were going to pull it off, but we did (sort of)!! We bought a milk chocolate cake mix, some hot fudge and a bundt cake pan. So going to Hee Haws every year has been a tradition in my moms family for the past 5 years or so. Well with my mom being gone we couldn't decide whether or not to go this year. After a lot of begging from the kids we decided we needed to go no matter what. So after a long day of cleaning out the house we were off to the wild wonders of Hee Haw Farms. We had so much fun!! In September my whole family went down to Texas for my Meemaw's funeral. It was a hard weekend, but overall was awesome because I got to see family I haven't seen in a long time. On September 1st 2009, my sweet Meemaw passed away from breast cancer. We found out on Saturday August 29th and she was gone by Tuesday. My Meemaw was an amazing lady who always put family before anything else. I know that she is with my Papaw now and that they are dancing in heaven and enjoying being with each other again. Miss you Meems!!

So during the Triple Crown World Series tournament one tradition that we have is to hike to Fish Creek Falls and and jump into the pool of water that the waterfall makes. This year we were able to take Isaiah and his cousin Brandon. We had fun, but the water was freezing. After we had jumped in a couple of times nobody wanted to do it anymore.

So Florida was an absolute blast! We were able to get hopper passes to all of the theme parks and were able to go on all the rides in each one of them. We also got to take Isaiah to Coco Beach. It was his first time being in the ocean so it was great to be able to experience that with him. I am so glad we got to go and be with my family and watch great baseball games and have fun all together.

Update

So it has been a long time since I have posted so I thought I would catch everyone up on what has been going on.
*My birthday was June 11 and we had a great time with the families eating dinner and cake. Rafael and Isaiah got me a bracelet with a heart charm on it. They engraved on the back, "love from your 2 boys." I totally cried when I read it.
*Of course we are still in baseball mode, Isaiah made the Riverton All-Stars A team with my little brother Joey. They are doing awesome and are in the state playoffs right now. The 9u Horns team won the Heber Valley Firecracker Tournament on the 4th of July. That is 3 championships in a row!! Way to go Horns!!
*Rafi and I took a little 1 day vacation to Denver to meet up with my family to watch the Horns Select team play in the Road to Disney Tournament. They took 1st place and so we all are heading to Florida to watch them play.
*We leave for Florida on the 14th for a vacation with the Horns Select team. Isaiah and I have never been to Disney World so it will be fun to experience that with Rafi and Isaiah. We get back on the 19th and leave again on the 27th for Steamboat Springs Colorado. The 9u Horns will be playing in the Triple Crown World Series. I love this tournament!!
*We received all of Isaiah's football gear this week and I can't believe the little 45 pound guy is going to suit up and play. CRAZY!!!
Well this is probably boring because all we have done is baseball, but its our life and we love it. I will post pictures of the vacations when we get back. Hasta Luego!

The Drive-In

So last Friday we decided to go to the Drive-In for the first time this year. We try and go a few times a year because we always have so much fun. Rafi's brother Danny and nieces Dani and Monica came with us. We saw Up and Earth and loved them both. Needless to say Isaiah and I were out by the end of Earth. We will definitely be going again!!

Grovecrest Dance Festival

Jackson and Lauren preformed in the Grovecrest Dance Festival this week. Lauren danced to "Walk Like an Egyptian" and Jackson danced to the "Mexican Hat Dance". They both did so well and loved being in front of a crowd. It took me back to my Grovecrest days and the many Dance Festivals I danced in.

9u Horns BBQ and Swimming Party

Over Memorial Day my parents had all of the 9u Horns team and their families over for a day of swimming and lots of eating. The kids and parents had a blast and the weather held off for most of the day. We have such great families on this team and it was a blast to spend time with them outside of a baseball park. Last night me, Rafi, Isaiah and Samuel went to the Real Salt Lake game. It was so fun except for the fact that we lost. Also, we went to the driving range today. It was my first time and I was really nervous to hit the ball. I tried and I absolutely loved it!! I hope that we can go back soon..golf may be my new hobby. Well, we have a tourney this weekend so I am sure I will be posting pics from that. Till next time.....

So Saturday night Rafi and I went to the Jazz game for our date night. We had fun even though the Jazz got blown out in the 2nd half. It is a good thing Rafi is so calm during the games because I can get a bit out of control...thinking the refs and players can hear me. But with him I never seem to get overly excited (for those who have seen me at a game know what I am talking about) Well....until next year Jazz fans....

Hair Show

So my sister Katie is going to hair school at Taylor Andrews in West Jordan. Last night they had their annual hair show and it was awesome!! I have never seen so many cool things done to people's hair before. Each school had their own theme and different groups and models in each theme. My sister Sarah was Katie's model for the evening. They both worked so hard on this show!! I was amazed at how good it turned out and what a fabulous job they both did. Sarah was a tree among a bunch of flowers. Here are the pics!!

P.S.~ how is it that my sister Sarah who is only 13 looks older than me all the time!! ugh!!

March Madness Champions 2009

So another baseball tournament down..many more to go. This time it was so warm and sunny...it was gorgeous. We won the tournament this time and it was great!!! Our boys did so well and battled so hard. Way to go little Horns!!

Last Dance as a Senior

So my sister Emi has been on Dance Company at Bingham throughout high school. She has had a blast and had her Spring Concert this weekend. Rafi and I went to support her and she did so well. I am very proud of her and want to tell her I love her!! Good job Emers!!

Birthday Wishes

Yesterday was Rafael's birthday...for those that don't know I think birthdays are the greatest thing ever. So I told him that it was his day and he could do whatever and go eat wherever he wanted. So we got Isaiah after school, did his homework and went to Tepanyaki for dinner. He was in heaven!! Isaiah and I got him 18 Mango Gatorade's (his favorite and on sale at Harmon's for 89 cents) and a picture frame full of pictures of Rafi and Isaiah. Needless to say it was a very good day and he is a very young looking guy for how old he is getting. Happy Birthday Love!!

Okay so I have decided to play in a "competitive" basketball league in Salt Lake. I haven't played in 7 years so this will be interesting....I hope that I don't keel over during a game....wish me luck!! I will post pictures...this will be HILARIOUS!!

Presidents Day Tournament

So they baseball tournament was a blast!! The Horns went 3-2, took 4th place and made it to Championship day. They have a tradition that we always wear white on Championship day. Good thing it wasn't to wet when we were playing, that red dirt is a pain to get out!!! What a great way to start the baseball season. Hook em!!!!

'Tis the season...

For baseball that is!!! So the baseball season for us officially begins Friday at 4:00. The "little horns" team has their first tournament in St. George this weekend. I am so excited to see Isaiah in his burnt orange and black. The team is a 9 year old team that my little brother Joey also plays on. So everyone get ready for lots of baseball posts and pictures.......
